I was once a model

At the beginning of this week I got to do something really fun:
I got to be a MODEL.

It is fashion week here in Paris and I got to be part of the whole process . So no I was not walking down any runways (or in my case I would have probably fallen and slid ferociously down it.) but I did get to enjoy some of the finer sides of being primped and powdered.

When designers conceptualize details of their shows they have many different people they have to train to realise these ideas. For example the designer for the MAISON RABIH KAYROUZ envisioned a square bun for all of his models. Not only does a stylists have to invent the do but a team of them have to learn to execute the look fast and efficiently for runway. So they have a pre-show boot camp to learn the motions of the look. For that they need models.

They told us to come in pants, heels, and black tank tops. I basically sat around for two hours getting my hair played with by a top stylist. My favorite part was being refered to as “the models” all day.

The ending product was beautiful but sadly I couldn’t wear it out because it ran the risk of showing up on the internet and ruining the show. But it certainly was an exciting and new experience.

About Emilie

I'm a small girl with big ambitions and very little common sense it seems. I decided after I graduated from college that I would move from my little city of Lafayette Louisiana to the raging monster city that is Paris. In 4 months of planning I have now uprooted everything I had in an amazing town to live in a truly wild place where I have no idea WHAT I am going to do. But isn't that the fun of it all. So here is cheers to getting lost, breaking hearts, starving, and many wonderful adventures that come along with finding yourself.
